Wow! Jasmine and James had an absolutely incredible wedding filled with love, lots of laughter, and many beautiful Kansas City locations including The Gallery Event Space. This wedding also had an amazing vendor team to help pull everything together. Special shoutout to Jazmyn with Hustle and Bustle Events who helped make everything run so smoothly. I can’t tell you how important it is to choose trusted and experienced vendors who you feel comfortable around on your wedding day! It truly makes a world of difference.
The day started out at Hotel Kansas City where Jasmine was getting ready and at Loews Hotel where James was getting ready. Both of them had opted for only a Maid of Honor and Best Man so the hotel rooms were pretty chill and relaxed all morning. I loved that Jasmine had all of their details ready for me in a box when I arrived at the hotel. Little things like that make my job so much easier! After all the hair and makeup and dressing was finished. Jasmine opened a present that James gave her and read a sweet letter that he wrote her. What a special moment!
We then headed to The Kauffman Event Center so Jasmine and James could have their first look before the ceremony. They decided to read their private vows after their first look. We also still had some time to take some wedding party and couples photos around the building. I always love photographing at The Kauffman and was so glad we were able to fit this spot into the timeline.
At The Gallery Event Space, we took all their family portraits and then Jasmine and James went to the back room to stay in hiding until the wedding ceremony started. The Gallery is such a beautiful venue it really doesn’t need much in the way of decorations! The tall white walls and windows provide great lighting and an elegant, modern feel to the space. Their ceremony was so sweet and I thought it was so beautiful that Jasmine reserved two seats for her late parents. You could definitely feel their presence and love for Jasmine and James throughout the whole day.
After the ceremony, we quickly exited the building and wandered around the Power and Light District taking so many couples portraits. I have to admit, this part of a wedding day might be my favorite. It’s so much fun getting to experiment with lighting and posing my couples against different backgrounds. Portrait time is the time to be creative! Their wedding was on the tail end of fall and we still had some beautiful fall colors in the trees to take advantage of. We also had time to take some flash portraits in the Kill Devil Club speakeasy right next to The Gallery.
The reception back at The Gallery Event Space was so much fun! From the grand entrance to cake cutting to toasts, everyone was having a blast and celebrating the newly married couple. Jasmine and James had their first dance. Then all their guests got onto the dance floor for a big group photo. This is a great way to transition into open dancing during your wedding day. During open dancing, Jasmine and James made sure to include time for a traditional Chaldean dance! I love it when couples incorporate unique parts of their culture into their wedding day.
Another big thank you to the wonderful vendors who made this wedding day perfect! You can find the full list of vendors and links to their websites at the end of this blog. If you’re getting married at The Gallery Event Space, I would love to hear from you! Send me a message HERE and we can start planning the wedding of your dreams!
